Introduction
If you’ve been vaping for a while, you’ve definitely heard of SMOK. They’ve been around forever, making iconic devices like the Alien mod and Beast tank series. This time, they’ve dropped two new pod systems — the SMOK Novo GT Kit and the Novo GT Box.
Both share the same pods, but their style and battery life are quite different. The Novo GT Kit is slim and tall with a 1300 mAh battery, while the Novo GT Box is shorter, wider, and comes with a massive 1700 mAh battery. Both go up to 30 watts, have bright color screens, and support adjustable airflow.
💰 Price:
- Novo GT Kit – $23.88 (EightVape)
- Novo GT Box – $25.88 (VapeSourcing)

Design & Build Quality
Let’s talk design first because SMOK really paid attention this time.
The Novo GT Box instantly stands out with its huge 2-inch color screen — honestly one of the best displays I’ve seen on a pod device. It looks bright, clear, and makes the device feel more premium than its price tag suggests.
The plus and minus buttons sit neatly under the screen, while the power button is placed on the right side. On the left side, there’s an airflow slider that lets you switch between a tight MTL draw and a slightly airy restricted DL vape.

The back panel has a nice textured design, and the rubber base keeps it from slipping on surfaces. The “White & 7-Color” variant looks especially cool — white at first glance, but when light hits it just right, you get a rainbow shimmer.
The Novo GT Kit, on the other hand, is the more classic one — tall, thin, and easy to hold. It has two smaller screens stacked vertically, which look like one long screen when lit up.
It’s simple, elegant, and very pocket-friendly.

Both devices come in several color options — 7 for the GT Kit and 8 for the GT Box — so you’ll definitely find one that fits your vibe.
⚙️ Getting Started
Using both devices is super easy — even if you’re completely new to vaping.
You get three buttons: power, plus, and minus. But here’s the fun part — the Novo GT Box doesn’t even need a fire button. It’s inhale-to-fire only, which makes vaping feel natural and effortless.
The Novo GT Kit, however, uses a traditional power button to fire.
Quick shortcuts:
- 5 clicks = Power on/off
- 3 clicks = Lock wattage
- Power + + = Change screen color/theme
- Power + – = Reset puff counter
- and – = Adjust wattage (5–30W)
Each model also lets you change themes:
- GT Box: Orange, Blue, Pink
- GT Kit: Blue, Green, Aqua

The airflow sliders on both are smooth, though the GT Box slider feels a bit more premium.
Refilling the pod is simple — just push the mouthpiece back and top up your juice. Strong magnets hold the pod securely in place, so no worries about it falling out.
My only small complaint: the pods sit a little deep in the device, so you’ll need to tilt it to see your juice level.
💨 Performance & Flavor
Now, onto what matters most — the performance.
Both kits use the same pods and mesh coils, so the vaping experience is identical. Each kit includes:
- 1× 0.6Ω pod (best around 18W)
- 1× 0.8Ω pod (best around 14W)
The 0.6Ω coil gives a warmer, denser vape with excellent flavor. Perfect for regular freebase or lower-nic juices.
The 0.8Ω coil runs cooler and smoother — ideal for nic salts or lighter hits.

Both coils performed really well during testing. I easily went through 20mL of e-liquid per coil with zero burnt taste and great flavor consistency. SMOK definitely nailed the coil quality this time.
🔋 Battery Life & Charging
Battery life is where the two really start to differ.
Novo GT Kit:
- Battery: 1300 mAh
- Charging speed: 0.8A
- Real capacity: ~1050 mAh usable
- Charge time: ~90 minutes
Novo GT Box:
- Battery: 1700 mAh
- Charging speed: 1.2A (tested at 1.34A)
- Real capacity: ~1400 mAh usable
- Charge time: ~70 minutes

Both charge through USB-C and support passthrough vaping, meaning you can vape while it’s plugged in.
The GT Box clearly wins this round — faster charging, bigger battery, and overall better efficiency.
✅ Pros & Cons

✔️ Adjustable airflow & power
✔️ Excellent battery life (especially GT Box)
✔️ Large, colorful screens
✔️ Compact & pocketable

🏁 Final Verdict
Both the SMOK Novo GT Kit and Novo GT Box are fantastic pod systems. They’re stylish, well-built, and easy to use.
If you prefer something lightweight, slim, and budget-friendly, the Novo GT Kit is perfect.
But if you want more power, faster charging, and a big, beautiful screen, go for the Novo GT Box — it just feels more premium in daily use.

At the end of the day, both perform equally well. It really comes down to what shape and battery size you prefer. Personally, I’d pick the Novo GT Box for its display, battery, and simplicity (no fire button needed).
Both devices get a solid recommendation from us at LoVapes — whether you’re a casual vaper or just starting out, you’ll enjoy the smooth flavor and quality build SMOK always delivers.
💬 Final Thoughts from LoVapes
It’s nice to see SMOK returning to its roots — focusing on reliable performance, long coil life, and sleek design rather than overcomplicating things.
If you want something small that actually performs like a bigger device, the Novo GT series hits the sweet spot.
